1. Responsible organization

The association is responsible for data processing on this website Human Front Aid, Schifflaube 34, 3011 Bern, Switzerland.

Data protection inquiries can be sent to this postal address or by e-mail to info@humanfrontaid.org be directed.

Human Front Aid is subject to the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG) and — where applicable — the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Purpose of data processing and categories of personal data

We process personal data exclusively as part of our charitable purposes (supporting people affected by war), to provide and secure this website and to process donations and communication.

Depending on how you interact with us, we process the following categories of personal data in particular:

  • Technical usage data (e.g. IP address in abbreviated/anonymized form, date/time, pages viewed, device/browser)
  • Contact and communication data (e.g. name, email address, content of inquiries)
  • Donation and transaction data (e.g. name/address if submitted via payment service provider, amount, payment reference, donation confirmation)
  • media content (photos/videos), if we publish or process them

2.1 Website visit and technical usage data (server logs)

When you visit our website, certain usage data is automatically processed for technical reasons. Our hosting/website service provider collects access data (e.g. IP address, date/time, retrieved page) in server log files.

This processing is carried out to provide the website, to ensure IT security and to statistically evaluate usage. IP addresses are only further processed in abbreviated or anonymized form. A personal evaluation does not take place. Access data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer required for the stated purposes.

2.2 Cookies and consent management

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device to provide certain functions.

We differentiate between:

  • Necessary cookies, without which the website does not technically work.
  • Optional cookies/technologies (e.g. for web analysis or embedded third-party content), which are only used with your consent.

When you visit our website for the first time, you can use the cookie banner to give or decline your consent to optional categories. Your selection is saved locally so that the banner does not reappear every time you visit.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings (cookie icon). If you withdraw a previously given consent, optional technologies will be disabled for future page views (this may require reloading the page). You can also manage, block, or delete cookies in your browser. If you reject optional cookies, certain functions (such as embedded media) may be restricted.

2.3 Web analysis (Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager)

If you have given your consent, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to statistically analyze the use of our website. The integration is carried out via Google Tag Manager. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies to collect information about your use of the website (e.g. pages viewed, interactions, length of stay, device type; IP address in abbreviated/anonymized form where technically implemented).

Important: Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are only loaded on our website after you have agreed to the “Analytics” category in the cookie banner. You can withdraw this consent at any time via the cookie settings.

Google can process data on servers outside of Switzerland/EU, particularly in the USA. For such transfers, Google relies on recognized data protection mechanisms (e.g. standard contractual clauses and — where applicable — the Data Privacy Framework). For more information, please see Google's privacy policy.

2.3.1 Google signals and advertising features (optional)

Google also offers so-called Google signals or advertising features. When Google signals are activated, analytics data can be linked to information from Google account users who have activated personalized advertising and have consented to the corresponding link. This makes it possible, for example, to make demographic and interest-based evaluations possible.

Our principle: We only activate and use such extended functions when necessary for our purposes and only on the basis of an appropriate legal basis (in particular consent) and in compliance with the rules on sensitive categories. Users can access and manage appropriate data via Google Settings/ “My Activity.”

2.4 Online donations and payment processing

When you donate, we process personal data to process the donation, to manage donations and for our bookkeeping. Which data is collected in detail depends on the chosen donation method.

2.4.1 Bank transfer (IBAN)

When making a donation via direct bank transfer (IBAN), we do not collect any payment details on the website itself. You transfer money directly to our club account. We receive transaction information (e.g. name, amount, payment reference) from our bank and use this to record the donation and for donation receipts. This data is stored in accordance with legal storage requirements and then deleted or anonymized.

2.4.2 Online donation form (RaiseNow) and payment service provider (e.g. Stripe)

If you use our online donation form, the processing is carried out by the donation service provider RaiseNow. Depending on the payment method selected, payment service providers such as Stripe be involved. The data required for payment processing is transmitted directly to the respective service providers and processed there. We receive donation information from these service providers (e.g. confirmation/status, amount, references and, depending on the configuration/donation process, contact details required for receipt/communication).

We use the donor data received from us via RaiseNow and the payment service providers exclusively for donation management, donation receipts and letters of thanks and information. Further use or transfer will not take place without your express consent, unless there is a legal obligation.

2.5 Newsletters and donation updates

When you sign up for our newsletter or email updates, we use your email address (and, if applicable, your name) to inform you at irregular intervals about our projects and the impact of your donations. These mailings are only made with your consent or within the framework of legal regulations.

We use Google Workspace (Gmail) as an email service for sending. Your email address is stored on Google servers and processed for delivery. Google can also process data outside of Switzerland/EU (e.g. USA) and relies on recognized data protection mechanisms for this purpose.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at info@humanfrontaid.org write or follow an unsubscribe message contained in our emails (if available).

2.6 Contact

When you contact us (e.g. by e-mail or via a contact form), we process the data you provide (name, e-mail address, telephone number, message) to process your request and for any follow-up questions.

Requests and associated data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer required and there are no legal storage requirements.

2.7 Photos and videos of those affected/Volunteer missions

As part of our humanitarian work, photos and videos are sometimes created (e.g. for documentation, transparency, donation communication). These may include people who are in a particularly vulnerable situation (e.g. victims of war, injured people, minors).

We ensure particularly careful handling: Where appropriate and possible, we obtain consent (written or oral). In sensitive cases, we avoid identifying representations or anonymize content (e.g. pixelation) and review publications particularly rigorously. If you are affected and do not wish to have it published, please contact us at info@humanfrontaid.org.

3. Service providers, recipients and data transfer abroad

3.1 Hosting and website platform (Webflow)

Our website is built and hosted using the Webflow system. The service provider is Webflow, Inc., 398 11th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA. Data that is processed on or via the website (e.g. technical usage data, content of forms) can be stored on Webflow servers.

Webflow works for us as a contract processor. Since Webflow is a US company, a transfer to the USA cannot be ruled out. Webflow relies on recognized guarantees (e.g. standard contractual clauses and — where applicable — data privacy framework). For more information, please see Webflow's privacy policy.

3.2 Google services (Workspace, Analytics, Tag Manager)

We use Google Workspace (including Gmail) for communication and internal administration (e.g. spreadsheets/lists as part of donation management). Depending on the process, donor data (e.g. from bank transfers or from donation receipts) can be manually entered and stored in internal systems. Processing is carried out for association administration, donation management and legal obligations (accounting/archiving).

3.3 No unauthorised data transfer, no data sales

In principle, your personal data will only be passed on to third parties if this is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy, if we are legally obliged to do so or if you have given your consent.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. In particular, we do not share contact details with external companies for advertising purposes.

4. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure. In particular, this includes:

  • Data transfer encryption (HTTPS/SSL)
  • Restrictions on access to personal data
  • Internal guidelines for safe handling of data
  • Careful selection and control of our service providers

Despite all measures taken, the transmission of data via the Internet may have security gaps. We are constantly adapting our protective measures to the state of the art.

5. Retention and deletion

We only store personal data for as long as is necessary for the respective purposes or as long as we are legally obliged to do so. We store donor data for several years, in particular as part of tax and accounting requirements. If the purpose of processing ceases to apply and there are no longer any legal obligations, we delete or anonymize the data concerned.

6. Rights of data subjects

As a data subject, you are entitled in particular to the following rights under the Swiss DSG and — where applicable — the GDPR:

  • information about which personal data we process, for what purposes and for how long
  • rectification incorrect data
  • erasure, insofar as there are no legal storage requirements or overriding reasons to the contrary
  • constraint processing in specific cases
  • data portabilityinsofar as the GDPR is applicable
  • revocation of consents with effect for the future (e.g. newsletter, cookies/tracking)
  • contradiction against processing based on legitimate interests, where applicable
  • complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority

To exercise your rights, you can contact us at any time at info@humanfrontaid.org contact. We may require appropriate proof of identity to ensure that no data is disclosed without authorization.

7. No automated decisions

We do not make decisions that are based exclusively on automated processing and that have legal effect on you or significantly affect you in a similar way. In particular, there is no profiling within the meaning of data protection laws.

8. Changes to this privacy statement

We reserve the right to adapt this privacy policy as necessary, for example in the event of changes in our data processing or legal requirements. The latest version is available on this website.
